1998 Berlin Bundestag election
After her success in the election in 1994, Christiane declared that she would continue running. The primary election consisted of both her and Ben Dover, which resulted in both proceeding to the general election. Her success in the general election is attributed to the maintenance of the influence she gained in the previous election and the expansion of party presence in Berlin. However, she did not win over as many voters as she did in her first election. Analysts have attributed this to the existence of an opponent from Christiane's own party as well as an increase in focus on the Berlin from the Christian Democratic Union party.
