SKEEDIX REAL ESTATE
ABOUT
Skeedix Real Estate is an American real estate development and property management company headquartered in a major Mid-Atlantic metropolitan area. The company develops, acquires, and manages residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties, and is best known for its mid-rise apartment complexes and suburban office parks. It serves1. list item first-time homebuyers, institutional investors, and municipal redevelopment authorities. Its chief executive is Timothy Smith.
HISTORY
Skeedix was founded in the early 1960s as a small residential brokerage serving postwar suburban expansion. In the 1970s it moved into construction, building its first garden-apartment communities. Through the 1980s it grew rapidly by buying distressed urban parcels during the downturn, then redeveloping them as the market recovered. A 1991 restructuring, prompted by the early-1990s commercial real estate slump, cut its debt load and refocused the company on property management, which gave it steadier revenue. Timothy Smith became CEO in the mid-1990s and has since pursued a strategy of consolidation and regional expansion.
OPERATIONS
The company operates through three divisions:
-Residential: apartment communities and planned housing developments
-Commercial: office parks, retail centers, and light-industrial space
-Property Management: leasing, maintenance, and tenant services for owned and third-party properties
Flagship products include the "Skeedix Commons" apartment line and a turnkey office-park package for mid-sized employers. Strategic priorities include expanding into growing Sun Belt markets, partnering with local governments on redevelopment incentives, and reducing vacancy rates across the portfolio.
